Eva Longoria is synonymous with her signature glossy, long brunette hair, with the actor often straightening her natural curls or wearing them in soft tousled waves. Having favoured these timeless styles since her Desperate Housewives days, the last thing we had on our 2024 bingo card was for the actor to experiment with a mullet or modern shag, but we're high-key obsessed.

Mullets have gained popularity in recent years, with celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Zendaya and Billie Eilish all trying the style for themselves and making a compelling case for us to get our own. Previously associated with footballers, rockstars and general rebelliousness, the cut has been reinvented by a new generation and we're here for it.

In Eva Longoria's case, she favoured a softer shag take on the style. Far removed from any look we've seen on her before, her long-time hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos is responsible for the new look. Posting to Instagram, he captioned the post “The Mick Jagger Shag: A fresh shag for the ultimate woman Eva Longoria.”

Are you ballsy enough to rock the modern mullet the indie-girls are wearing?

Eva Longoria wore the fresh cut out for the first time at the LaCena event in Los Angeles. Combining the hairstyle with a long, black, asymmetrical dress, understated jewellery and high black stilettos, she looked immaculate and kept her makeup classic with a simple black cat eye, false lashes and a soft brown lip liner.

How to style a mullet like Eva Longoria

To style her mullet, Eva Longoria's hairdresser Dimitris Giannetos opted for a casual wet look using products from Opus Beauty, Steeve Foussard, L'Oréal Paris (Eva Longoria has long been a brand ambassador) and Gee Hair.

Keeping her natural curls, what we love about this look is how versatile it is, with it being simple enough to style into an updo, with a fringe or wear straightened.

Thinking of recreating the look yourself? Be sure to carefully consider the cut itself and ensure you consult with your hairdresser beforehand to decide whether it suits your face shape and hair texture.
