There were two obvious options.

After nearly one year of wondering, Kylie Jenner finally revealed her baby son's new name on January 21.

Jenner and ex-boyfriend Travis Scott welcomed their second child in February 2022 but announced they’d be changing his name a month later. “FYI our son’s name isn’t Wolf anymore,” the beauty mogul shared on her Instagram Stories in March of that year. “We just really didn’t feel like it was him.”

Six months later, however, Jenner revealed the new name was not yet finalised. Apparently, Scott had trouble committing… to a name! “We haven’t officially, legally changed the name,” she said during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in September 2022. “His name is still Wolf, his passport’s Wolf, but that isn’t gonna be his name. We don’t call him Wolf…. We’re just not ready to share yet.”

She added, “One day [Travis will] be like, ‘Ooh, this name’s kind of cool,’ and change it again.”

Ultimately, the reality star wouldn't end up sharing her son's new name—let alone his face—with the world for another four months. After letting name conspiracy theories run amok for nearly a year, Jenner put her fans out of their misery in late January, just ahead of her son's upcoming first birthday. “AIRE 🤍,” the Kylie Cosmetics mogul captioned a series of never-before-seen photos of her son on Instagram, including two sweet images with his mom.

The only question remaining: how do you say Aire out loud? One fan account on Instagram speculated over the two most-likely pronunciations, asking, “Do you think it's pronounced air or airey?”

Thankfully, Kylie Jenner didn't wait a year to answer. She replied to @kyliesnapchat directly, writing, “AIR ♥️.”

Are we sensing a theme here? Unlike Aire's previous name, this one goes pretty well with four-year-old sister Stormi's, though she does get the extra “y” sound at the end of her sky-related name. If Jenner does choose to have another child one day, I vote for “Reign.”
