We did not have all this tea spilling in our bingo cards for 2023, but amidst announcing her new relationship, Selena Gomez has just dropped some major gems in this exclusive interview for GLAMOUR, including a big Rare Beauty launch (more on that later).
“We tend to all be hard on ourselves at way too young of an age. The older I’ve gotten the more comfortable in my own skin I’ve become and knowing I am enough,” says Selena. The 31 year-old has faced her fair share of mental health woes, but she always seems to come through to the other side.

Sure, the burnout is real – and celebrity or not, Selena is not immune to the end-of-year slump, when we're all just simply running out of gas. One of her remedies for this is a little unorthodox, though. “Scary movies always transport me away from any stress I’m feeling in the moment, but I know they’re not for everyone,” she says as she catches up with GLAMOUR on the year, and to debrief on all things beauty and mental health.
Failing that, Selena shares how she's cuddling up to cosy season, turning to her inner circle when she’s seeking true comfort and escapism. “Being surrounded by people I love always brings me true comfort. But depending on where I am and what my schedule is like, I also find comfort in small things like lighting a candle or cuddling my dogs,” she explains.
Like the rest of us, Selena Gomez is in her cosy girl era. Amidst spending time with her new boo, and strolling the streets in matching thigh-high boots with BFF Taylor Swift, she's been cooking up a brand new drop with Rare Beauty, to insulate the mindset of herself and others from outside noise – enter Find Comfort, which drops on Space NK from 18th December. The next phase for her brand sees her move into two entirely new categories – hair and body. It’s a secret Selena’s been keeping under wraps for ages, but we’re one of the first she’s shared the full intel with.
Think cosy, cashmere, comfy and calm – ‘Find Comfort’ is everything you'd hope for from Rare Beauty this winter season. It features four products that Selena has revealed she swears by for a pick-me-up. Her latest move was an intentional choice after leaning into the tools she turns to herself to soothe her. “I created these products with the ways I like to take care of myself in mind,” she tells GLAMOUR.

In the mix you'll find the uplifting Find Comfort Body & Hair Fragrance Mist (£28) with notes of sparkling lemon zest, soft jasmine, and smooth cashmere wood, the Find Comfort Hydrating Body Lotion (£28), the pampering Find Comfort Hydrating Hand Cream (£18) and the oh-so-relaxing Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen (£20) made with a natural blend of peppermint, lavender, and tonka bean to de-stress.
“I always have a hand cream with me and this one is so lightweight and the perfect size,” Selena shares. “And I love aromatherapy oils, which are calming to me. I'm obsessed with our new Stop & Soothe pen – I can take it everywhere with me,” she adds.
Rare Beauty hasn't been in the game for too long (only launching to the UK in February 2022) – but already the brand has managed to shake up the British beauty scene, winning awards with sell out, viral products.
GLAMOUR previously spoke to Selena in the run up to Rare's launch, when she revealed her aim for the brand was to “have open conversations around beauty and mental health [and] change the industry by breaking down unrealistic standards of beauty together.”
Almost two years in, it's clear Selena's ethos is very much woven into the products' formulas and messaging, with ‘Find Comfort’ consciously centred around wellness and taking a moment to be kind to yourself, especially come the cosy winter season.

“I love body products and have always found comfort in my ritual after a bath or shower,” she says. Same, Selena, same.
“Body is something people have been asking us to do since we launched Rare Beauty but I really wanted to take the time and get all the products exactly right,” Selena explains. “The textures and fragrances of this range bring me comfort when I’m feeling overwhelmed or stressed,” she shares – before tapping up the textures and formulas she genuinely enjoys. “Body lotion is a step I never miss after a shower or bath and I love a fresh, hydrating mist to finish off my routine,” she spills. We're with you Selena. After all, if you're not moisturising your entire body after a shower, then what ARE you doing?
So, which of the new squad is her hero? “It’s impossible to pick favourites.” she responds. But, “right now, I would say the Stop & Soothe pen. I’ve always loved putting essential oils behind my ears to de-stress and this pen lets me bring this ritual with me anywhere. The gel is so light and fast-absorbing, and the silicone tip is perfect to massage into your pressure points,” she reveals.

Even though this latest collection falls under hair and beauty, Selena’s gently dipping her toe into another (highly-demanded) category: fragrance, and more specifically, aromatherapy. While we don’t have a fully fledged perfume (yet), Selena was thoughtful about incorporating scent into this collection. “I love fragrance and the way fragrances can transport you to a different time or place in your memory,” she tells us. “The scents that draw me in are warm and cosy because they feel inviting,” she explains.
Before we wrap up, I ask if Selena can share any exciting future launches from Rare – after all, The Selenators are a trusty bunch, right? She can always confide in us. “So many things are coming up that I can’t wait to share with you all,” she beams, “but I would get in trouble… so you’ll have to follow along and see what we are up to,” she teases. Sorry Selena fans, we tried…
