Short wedding dresses are the bridal trend for 2023 and beyond
Us brides have been searching for short wedding dresses like our lives depend on it recently. From the Dolce & Gabbana mini dress Kourtney Kardashian wore when she tied the knot with Travis Barker, to the Vivienne Westwood registry office number donned by Sophie Habboo, and the short tweed Chanel design that everyone's favourite ‘it’ girl (Sofia Richie-Grainge) wore as her evening wedding dress, short bridal dresses are having a well-deserved moment – and what better way to say those summer vows than in a short white frock?
Not only are they the ideal length for warmer climates (say goodbye to layers of tulle and overheating), a short wedding dress is also the ultimate statement to make if you're a modern bride. No one ever expects it, and you're able to wear it again should you wish to.

Sure, there's also the best boho wedding dresses, maternity wedding dresses and high street wedding dresses for all year round to consider, but short wedding dresses are a whole different ball game. According to Karen Millen, searches for 'mini wedding dress' and 'mini bridal dress' soared 229% and 423% worldwide after the Richie-Grainge wedding and Jennie Kim's Met Gala look. So if that doesn't tell you to give them a chance, I don't know what will.
Its easy to assume that there's only one type of dress when it comes to your big day – typically floor-length and made of chiffon, satin or lace – and I'm the first to admit that I was in that camp, but, actually, there are some stunning above-the-knee designs that'll have you feeling (and looking) just as spectacular as a wedding gown/ball gown would.
There's no reason as to why you can't join your gal pals with their short bridesmaids dresses and wedding guest dresses and have a shorter hemline yourself.
