We're still not over the elegant, understated beauty look that Sofia Richie served up at her luxurious French Riviera wedding at the weekend. Alongside a polished, barely-there makeup look – courtesy of makeup artist, Pati Dubroff, who did us a solid and let slip the exact products she used to get the look – Sofia's hairstylist, Kathleen Riley, created the daintiest cool-girl ballerina bun for the occasion.

We tapped Kathleen up to get the deets on the brief and how she landed on the look. “For the entire weekend we wanted to go with something chic, timeless and clean,” she told GLAMOUR. “Sofia is so stunning, so hair off her face was definitely the go-to.”

Kathleen created an edit of hairstyles for Sofia across the weekend, starting with her rehearsal dinner the night before, the look for the ceremony itself and for the after party.

For the main wedding day, “we did a classic middle-part low bridal bun,” Kathleen said. “The key products I used were a row of SHAE Hair clip-in extensions to conceal some of her layers and the Got2Be Glued Hairspray.” As for recreating it yourself, “I'd say a very straight centre-part is key and also, make sure to use a strong hold hairspray to keep the sides in place, free of flyaways. Add hair extensions if you have a lot of layers to make the bun super clean,” Kathleen advised.

Later in the evening, “we transitioned into a fun party ponytail for the after party,” Kathleen said. Again, she kept Sofia's hair centre-parted and sleek for a luxe take on the pony.

As for the rehearsal dinner, Kathleen had created a similar look, only she swapped out the ultra shiny sleek finish for something slightly grittier and textural to create a wet texture. She shared the details in her own TikTok post. “I really just used some oil and gel to create this look. I used the Unite U Oil and the Got2Be Glue Gel. Once I had the oil in and the gel, I just kind of pulled out some pieces on the top to give that texture – that was intentional texture,” she explained.

As for technique, “I do her bun in sections – that's the key, in my opinion, to a really snatched bun,” she said adding, “I did a rope braid and just twisted it up into the bun that it is and pinned it.” Then for a little extra texture, “we left some pieces out over her ears which I thought was really beautiful,” Kathleen said.

We're already excited to see what Kathleen creates next for Sofia Richie, and she's already building hype, “honestly we switched last minute from something else, which I hope I get to do soon because that look is gonna be amazing," Kathleen said. We're ready when you are.
